Amtrak Coast Starlight Business Class

One of the most popular Amtrak routes is between Los Angeles and Seattle on board the Coast Starlight. The route skirts along the Pacific Ocean, through the forests of the Cascades and through major metropolitan areas.

Traditionally, the train offered two types of accommodations: First Class Private Rooms and reserved Coach Class. The on board management team wanted to introduce an upgraded option to Coach Class, Business Class. The idea was given the green light as trial with a limited launch budget.

To reach reach passengers and advertise the new service, I designed a variety of marketing materials that included information distributed on board trains, in-station locations, and other point-of-purchase locations.

Showing success, the concept was expanded to other selected long-distance routes throughout the system.
