UVU Redesign Concept

Step 1 — Research

The challenge was to redesign the UVU CET website. We started by creating a navigation tree and implemented user testing to see who was coming to the website and what their goal was. We developed this project in Figma, Adobe XD, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

Step 2 — Sketches

We worked on this project in a group of 5. We all created sketches to gather ideas and see what options were out there. We wanted to make the navigation easier for the user and allow the information to be clear and similar to the rest of the UVU website.

Step 3 — Wireframes

We transitioned the sketches to Adobe XD and started to see what my designs could become. We assigned each other different pages and parts of the navigation for the website. During this stage, my team started to fail to produce their work so I had to make up for their lack of effort.

Step 4 — Surface Comps

We continued to redesign based off of the professor's specifications and user testing. I only had 1 out of the 5 members helping me with this project. The rest of the team failed to produce any support and this lasted the rest of project.

Step 5 — Revisions

We decided to do a drastic overhaul of the whole project. We felt that this be better for the end-user and would allow them to get to their destination faster. In our user testing, users were able to get to their desired location 2x-4x faster than the original website. We wanted the navigation to be simple and intuitive.

Final Submission —

We polished off the final pages and made sure everything was aligned and had the same theme. I was really happy with how this project turned out. This new redesign looks great and it's effective in getting the user to their desired location quickly and efficiently. The hardest part of this project was my team. We had a group of 5 students, but only 1 of the team members actually helped me. I was the project leader for this assignment and we kept giving the other team members multiple ways of helping but they refused to give us any assistance. Even without them, we were able to still get the project finish on time and present to the client.
