Handmade book - Forgotten Forms: Women in Art History
Forgotten Forms: A small zine I designed, printed and bound with thread, that will focus on 2 forgotten women artists per issue. The semi-transparent vellum cover adds to the mystery :)
This project was created in 2019 as part of the amazing class "Publishing as Artistic Practice" taught by Alex Arzt at SFAI.
This issue features two artists I love, Marianne von Werefkin and Dorothea Tanning. I included pieces of their stunning paintings, but also some of their brilliant writing and thoughts about art.
“One life is far too little for all the things I feel within myself, and I invent other lives within and outside myself for them,” she once mused. “A whirling crowd of invented beings surrounds me and prevents me from seeing reality. Color bites at my heart.” —Marianne von Werefkin
