Unforeseen.

Coronavirus kills people. There is no doubt about that. There is doubt though, around the number of people that have died around the world because of coronavirus indirectly. With people being suddenly put in situations that they weren’t prepared for, unexpected issues have occurred.

With lots of people forced to stay at home in lockdown at the moment, there are those who are normally surrounded by others such as elderly and teens that are finding themselves alone. The big cities that we normally live in have come to a standstill and people have been reduced to their tiny rooms or houses. Over in the UK, people are too scared to leave their homes to go and seek medical help with GPs only accepting people with serious medical conditions and strange lockdown rules changing all the time. 50% less people visiting A&E shows this in full effect. People who need help are not getting it and it is causing unnecessary deaths with cases of people having heart attacks and not wanting to do anything about it so that they don’t stress the NHS for example.

With this occurring there are far more people dying over in the UK around this time of the year then there usually is. 8196 more than usual since the start of coronavirus in fact, with 6546 of those deaths being unrelated to coronavirus according to an article in The Guardian. Almost 80% of these deaths are caused by conditions that aren’t related to coronavirus.

Steps need to be put in place to help those who are locked down and need help so that further issues can be stopped.

I designed this poster with the idea in mind that being alone and staying inside is a serious problem for people currently. The title: “Unforeseen” sums up how the quick decision to lock everyone inside lead to issues that couldn’t be seen around the time. Being individuals making up a big city is shown though the houses in the letters and the looming isolation above the “boomer remover” coronavirus slogan shows a real issue that is still unaddressed.
