Bulk Rename Utility - Redesign | Native Windows

Bulk Rename Utility is one of the most complex, comprehensive renaming tools for Windows. While it packs a lot of functionality, all that is done at the detriment of the user.

The experience isn't great and for non professionals, casual users, it is down right terrifying.For this reason I started redesigning it using parts of the Fluent Design System and Native Windows Design Patterns.

This work started by creating a Persona, a photographer in their mid 20's to interview them and see how they get along with it. Took ideas from the internet from people's feedback to their proposals and did my best to map all the functionality to understand most use cases. At the end of all that I had a second round of interviews and a bit of user testing to see how the experience goes now. At this point, only small adjustments are made and boom! Here is a brand new design for Bulk Rename Utility.
