Active Living Census

Because this document was for the community, I wanted to make it fun and read almost like a story. It needed to be a document that the whole family could enjoy, so it was important to me that the data be communicated visually, so that people of all learning and language abilities could understand what the data was saying. To ensure that visually impaired members of the community were included, it was important that brief paragraphs summarising the data be placed above each visual, so that ReadSpeaker software could work most effectively. The document was a great success. It was read in homes, schools, and sports clubs. And since then I have been approached by six councils in Victoria to create their Active Living Census documents in the same style. I really love the outcome of this project, as it demonstrates how it is possible to communicate complex information with simple and fun visuals that everyone can enjoy.
