FMC Star

FMC Star Respect is a learning resource designed to help secondary school students talk about respect. When dealing with a younger audience, using characters is sometimes the best way to communicate an idea while holding their attention. In this instance, I created the character “Star” (Students Talking About Respect) and his little aphid friend, Davephid. Star navigates some heavy subjects in a school setting, while interacting with his friends. The little scenarios that they get into are meant to make the students laugh, but also help the students relate. Being able to identify oneself in the material helps the student visualise how they react in certain situations. This project was well received, and I have since created the high school version of the document, which sees Star, Davephid and his friends grow up, get a little hipper and delve into some important subjects.
