Supercomputing IDE for geophysicist

PROJECT BRIEF
Scientists at Schlumberger write complex algorithms to process a huge amount of seismic 2D data ( petabytes ) to run on cloud supercomputers. They produce a visual rendering that helps refine the data so that geophysicists can compose a 3D composite of what is hidden miles under the earth. FLOW is the first true IDE developed specifically for this process.

ROLE
My role as Digital Product Strategist and UX lead on the project helped bring to life a tool to make the very complex super simple. I was responsible for the product concept, key feature development, and UX framework for this industrial application.

METHODOLOGY
The users for this project are technologically sophisticated scientists, many leaders in their field. Not being a trained scientist myself, I set out to learn what users go through, how they think, the problems they solve, and the pain points in their daily lives. So I dug deep, reading books, white papers, user studies even dense training manuals, all while conducting the typical UX processes: research, ideation, journeys, and wireframes. I led all aspects of discovery, product definition, and product design ultimately delivering a robust prototype and roadmap. FLOW is currently in production.
