Industrial Software for Managing Multi-year Petabyte-sized Geoph
PROJECT BRIEF Schlumberger project managers needed to have eyes on thousands of scientific details and processes that no human mind could ever contain. I was asked to invent the ideal system to make life easier for exhausted project managers tackling some of the most complex projects in the world.
ROLE My role as a digital product strategist and UX lead on the project helped Schlumberger imagine that possibility. I was responsible for developing the PM software with an end-to-end license to explore bleeding-edge solutions.
METHODOLOGY The users on this project are highly trained and educated geophysicists, many leaders in their field. Not a trained geoscientist myself, I nonetheless set out to learn what users go through, how they think, the problems they solve, and what their pain points were. I had to dig deep for this one. Reading books, studies, and training manuals while conducting all the typical UX processes. From research, ideation, journeys, and wireframes, I led all aspects of discovery, product definition, and product design ultimately delivering a robust prototype and roadmap. The next-generation PM tool is currently in production at Schlumberger.
