Signifiers - Accordion vs Create / Add

Lately, I've been working on creating greater consistency in our design patterns and signifiers in our tool. Many of our patterns were put together hastily in the early days of design and, given the nature of Agile, we didn't have time to go back and rethink them.

I came across a great article from NN Group that dove deep into accordion patterns and the best icon signifiers to use to indicate actions. The up/down caret was the clear winner. This got me thinking about how we have been using "+" and "-" in our app to signify both accordion actions AND adding or creating new objects. SO, I put together this document to take an inventory of this situation and to help my team understand why we should take the time to make these simple updates.
