Neil Young (1974)

On the 51st anniversary of the May 4th massacre at Kent State, I present the first image in The Rest is Music: Neil Young (1974)

Neil Young is a prolific performer. He’s been in some type of band since the young age of eighteen years old. He’s survived the Sixties, the Seventies, the Reagan years, and a stroke. Through it all, he continues to put out music that breaks the mold, pulling on Americana, rock ’n roll, R&B, and country. He’s played with Buffalo Springfield, Crazy Horse, Crosby, Stills, and Nash, and his own solo work. He’s a political activist, and he’s not afraid to sing about the pressing issues of the day.

There’s so much to say about Neil. He’s a damn national treasure. I’ll have much more to say about this two time elected Rock and Roll Hall of Famer in a future post.
