LUCA

LUCA is an editorial project conceived as artistic practice. It takes its name from a scientific concept (last universal common ancestor) -the hypothetical first living being from which all other beings evolved from. It is situated at the crux of science, technology, art, anthropology, and philosophy and proposes new ways of inhabiting the world. It results from the crux between science, technology, art, anthropology, and philosophy to propose new ways of inhabiting the world. We created a site that understood the project not only as a web-based publishing platform, but as a project that intended to expand the definition of “reading”. Images, sounds, even single phrases share space with full-length essays and interviews. The project seeks to engage the community in a larger conversation of what is being constructed through collective thinking processes.
