Tidal Flow Yoga is a yoga studio inspired by tidal movements and the oceanic forces of creation, destruction and stillness. The ocean is both strong yet nurturing at the same time. Founder Karen Shelton often finds solace whenever she is by the ocean—practicing yoga, meditating or just simply being there to feel grounded. Yoga has always been a constant in Karen’s life, and has healed her in ways she never thought was possible. She now hopes to help others do the same by teaching and creating her own studio. The vision of this studio is to create a space for anyone from all walks of life to step onto the mat and flow through their highs and lows. Tidal Flow Yoga is a movement that flow together as a community committed to strength in play, zero judgement and rolling creativity.

I helped Karen and her team form this yoga studio right from the conception of the name. I provided creative direction and consultancy of the branding as a whole and created not only her visual identity, but also opening flyers and signages which includes street wall signage, street A-frame signage, door decal signage and front desk wall decal.

The logo is an abstract depiction of ocean waves originally created by hand, and the same goes for the calligraphy. The colour story depicts the ocean’s beautiful capacity to range from green to blue, where the colours steel blue and aquamarine were chosen. Gold is also used as an accent colour to replicate the reflection of sun rays on the water.
