I had the opportunity to design a logo for my home county in Colorado.

The logo is intended to capture the energy of this amazing place, including the two larger, better known communities within it: Buena Vista and Salida.

The county is 80% public lands with boundless recreational opportunities, from skiing the 100% natural snow of Monarch Mountain, to soaking in any of the 3 public hot springs, to mountain bike riding or hiking the endless miles of trails. The Arkansas River is is surrounded by twelve 14ers (peaks over 14,000 feet) and home to over 100 miles of Gold Medal Water fishing and Browns Canyon, Colorado’s newest National Monument, renowned for its whitewater rafting and kayaking.

Buena Vista and Salida are quaint, lively mountain towns with whitewater parks and thriving art communities. Salida is one of Colorado’s first Creative Districts and largest Historic District.

The logo embodies the counties tagline “Now THIS is Colorado”, as well as their URL: colorfulcolorado.com
