Stepping Out

This illustration was created for an article entitled "Stepping Out", by a gay Amish man, describing his experience being closeted in his community.

This image was created start-to-finish in Blender, with only minor color adjustments in Photoshop after-the-fact. The hat was created using a cloth simulation, as were the shapes, which were inflated and then forced together to create that "smooshed" effect.
