Symbol of protection

In Greek Mythology, the branches of one Fig tree saved Odysseus from being sucked into the deadly whirlpool created by the maw of a hungry sea monster Charybdis. Therefore, the Fig was primarily viewed as a symbol of protection.

Accordingly, in Ancient Greece, the Walnut was viewed as a symbol of abundance and fertility.
