The olive tree or more specifically an olive branch is a symbol of peace and friendship dating back to Αncient Greece. Olive Oil was poured on the ground as a sacrifice to the Gods and was rubbed on athletes bodies before they took part in the Olympics, and an olive branch was awarded to all of those who won at the games. Additionally, an olive branch was offered as a symbol of peace whenever the Greeks entered into a truce with their enemies.

The symbol of the olive tree has very deep roots in Greek tradition; it symbolises wealth, health, beauty, wisdom and abundance.
