ENTERVIEW
If you look up “how to prepare for an interview” online, it results in countless amounts of articles that give so many different tips, so much advice, and so many potential questions. It’s hard to keep track of it all.
Interviews stress people out, and I think this is because of a lack of practice, or exposure. It is easy to take notes of the tips you read, and to practice reciting answers to yourself. However, when someone is actually asking you questions out loud in a setting when you are expected to sit still and be attentive, you are no longer able to let your eyes wander or pace the room as you think about questions and answer them. This often makes interviews very intimidating to most people.
What this website would offer is a chance to practice a mock-interview, with questions being asked aloud, and a option to practice maintaining eye contact while answering.
CHOOSING QUESTION CATEGORIES:
Here, users have the option to select what type(s) of interview questions they would like to practice with. In interviews, questions usually fall into 4 categories: skills based, situational, behavioral, and sometimes even brain teasers.
ENABLE MICROPHONE ACCESS:
Enabling microphone access is completely optional, and is only a feature so that if a user would like, a transcript will be recorded for them to review at the end of the interview, allowing them to look over the questions and their answers. This could be a handy tool for people who would like to review and revise their answers.
TIPS:
On each question, there is a tip icon that the users can open, which will give advice for how to give an answer. When they open the tip, it will automatically pause the interview, giving them time process the advice and formulate an answer.
TIMER:
The timer gives users an allotted amount of time to answer the question they are given. It is different for each question, and is there to let the user gauge whether or not their answers are too short or too long based on said question.
HOW IT WORKS:
This page explains what the question categories entail, what each of the icons mean, and the options laid out at the end of interview. it provides a clear, simple explanation of how to navigate the site.
