How to draw a house

Was showing my kids how you can start with a simple design, and then add things on by thinking about a little story:

Well, some folks bought a simple house, and in time they had some kids, and got a few animals, so they built an expansion, put a room in the attic, and added a cheery fireplace to keep them all warm in the winter.
But then, of course, the Skyrim Construction Commission asked if they obtained a building permit first, and then the Riverwood HOA got all up in their business about how their place didn't "conform to certain community architectural aesthetic standards," and so...
