Roark MMA Logo
Logo design for Roark MMA, a site that will compile data to provide predictions and ratings for UFC fights and fighters.
I wanted to steer clear of the obvious martial arts symbolism and instead go for a more conceptual approach.
The name "Roark" comes from the character Howard Roark in the book "Fountainhead" by Ayn Rand. Roark was an architect, so our client wanted to find a way to incorporate an architectural element in this logo.
The diamond comes from the shapes that make up the cage around the MMA octagon. Although it's subtle, the letters M M A can be found in the combination of the three diamonds. In addition, the mark is reminiscent of some of the architectural elements used by Frank Lloyd Wright (specifically what I've seen at Florida Southern College), who was an inspiration for the Howard Roark character.
