Chicago Poster
I recently designed a poster for the Chicago Graphic Design Club's campaign about what Chicago means to designers. Here was my statement:
On a superficial level, a map of Chicago's neighborhoods resembles a quirky quilt; diverse and lush in its variants. However, a long history of segregation behind these patchwork shapes has reified stark divisions between wealth and poverty, access and denial. A city in a garden that only some get to experience. Only until we understand why our city looks the way it does can we develop a plan to repair it.
