Mictlāntēcutli | Aztec god of death

The principle god of Mictlan - the Aztec Underworld, sometimes depicted as a skeleton covered with blood wearing owl feathers in his headdress. Those who failed to gain admission to a paradise were forced to endure a four-year journey trough the Nine hells of Mictlan where they'd suffered for eternity.

The worship of Mictlāntēcutli sometimes involved even ritual cannibalism, with human flesh being consumed in and around the temple. He is as well the fifth Night God of the Aztecs.
