Life360 Onboarding
We redesigned our mobile app onboarding experience. Download Life360 on the App Store or Google Play store to check it out and let us know what you think!
We had these considerations in mind during this redesign:
1. Make it human
We redesigned the pre-login view of the app to incorporate an emotional background video. Our goal here is to reinforce the rational decision of downloading the app by adding a branded, emotional layer to it.
2. Simple and conversational
We consider app onboarding to be the beginning of a relationship between Life360 and the individual who downloaded our app. With this in mind, we wanted the beginning of the app experience to feel more like a conversation than data entry.
3. Guide and educate
There are a few fundamental aspects of the Life360 that are necessary for an individual to understand and set up in order for the product to deliver value. We designed a system of screens that punctuate the setup process by providing lightweight guidance on features such as “Circles” and “Places.”
4. Prevent churn
Our analytics show that users who perform certain key actions are more likely to continue using the product. We chose to highlight and contextualize these actions in the redesigned onboarding flow.
