Travel Website Concept
This passion project is a social media site I have been conceptualizing for some time. While there is much more to this project than what is shown here, I have been very happy with how it has come along over the last year. The general idea is that it is a social media site meant for photographers and backpackers to find beautiful spots across the globe that are not yet well known. So my goal was to create a page that highlighted the images uploaded by users that show the natural beauty of a location. Further, I wanted the site to be simple, but easily navigable in a way that would not intrude on the images.
My solution to my goals was to make the entire image the background. On one side, I included information about the location that travellers might find interesting. This way, the user can learn a little about the locations they may want to visit in the future or perhaps the best time of year to visit. If the background image requires it, this information panel could also be easily reversed to the opposite side of the web page. From this web page, you can navigate to many other useful and related pages. You can flip through more photos of the location using the arrow buttons, view comments on the photo, see the profile of the person who posted the image, view other spots in Utah or the United States, or you could navigate back to an explore page or your profile all with a single click of your mouse.
This project (which I have termed Project Local for now) has come a long way but is still far from being anywhere near complete. Nonetheless, I am excited to see where this project takes me.
