Bonsai Slice icon evolution

Enclosed are some views of the development of the Bonsai Slice icon. Designing an app icon has been one of the biggest challenges of my career. How do you sum up the entirety of a game in a tiny square?

This shot and the enclosed attachments show some of my process behind my process towards the finished icon. Between sketches and vector mock-ups, we explored over 100 or so different versions.
