Why are passcodes so boring? That’s the question I asked myself at the beginning of this project.

The idea came to me while showering. Our bathroom is full of beautiful tiles with different patterns. In my mind, I started shuffling those individual shapes, piece by piece to get new patterns.

I had to work this out, the unlock screen became the tile, the design the pattern and the passcode the shapes.

ProtoPie was perfect for this, I designed some patterns in illustrator, dragged them in the “Piemixer” and created a fully interactive background. It took me half an hour to learn the program and gave me a week full of discoveries and new possibilities. At the end, I have nine prototype patterns with some pre-installed passcodes.

In a fully developed app, you could choose your pattern, change the colors and set your passcode. Making it unique and beautiful. That’s what we designers are about, making the world a bit more unique and beautiful!
