Steampunk Dial

Am I the only one who thinks skeuomorphism is still cool? I think as the flat design trend fades, designers will start to appreciate the value of real-life metaphors un UI design. It's nice that we can be lazy and use flat colours but it's not always the best solution.

Personally, the flat design trend has taught me to focus on content over bells and whistles. When you remove all the frilly bits from a design any short comings in layout and information architecture are magnified. Now as I start to use visual metaphors more once again I am much more conscious of the underlying layout.

This particular design was the result of exploring the steampunk aesthetic for an audio engineer logo design project.
