The Belle Creole

This design was created for UVA Press. The graffiti backdrop paired with the spray-painted lettering alludes to the urban setting, while the floating white silhouette of the woman gives a ghost-like and graceful feel in contrast to the dark, crawling figure at the bottom. The stark contrast between the black and white is suggestive of the story to be told between the wealthy white protagonist supposedly murdered by her black gardener.
