Matt Stafford

As a lifelong Detroit Lions fan (yes, I will admit it) there are few things that we get excited about when we turn the game on Sunday afternoon. Matt Stafford was one of the few reasons that we held on to hope. This guy played with broken ribs, and broken fingers, but never let that stop him. He personified the blue-collared grit and determination that the soul of Detroit used to thrive on. Stafford never complained, he never made excuses, he never blamed his teammates, he simply put the responsibility on his own shoulders. Stafford is the very definition of leader, on and off the field.

Like many Detroit fans, we will miss seeing Stafford in the lions uniform, but we will know he is in a better place, where he will get to play for a team that actually has a chance at success.
