No Shrubs

No Shrubs is a Pothological plant lover from Singapore. The brief was simple, an animated logo that she could use for her plant care podcasts/videos.

We bounced some ideas back and forth, and landed on the first house plant she truly mastered: Oxalis Triangularis.

The most noticeable trait of the Oxalis is its purple leaves, which became a core colour in the logo. The leaves of the Oxalis are trifoliate, and on top of that, the individual leaflets are triangular shaped. This motif of 'three' recurs throughout the logo, from the number of leaves, shoots, flowers to the negative space created by the three purple leaves.

No Shrubs is set in a whimsical serif typeface, and contrasted by a grounded sans-serif with a low x-height.
