Unit 40: Advanced Art Practice Studies

The images above feature my finished messenger bag which was finalised using mix media, I used digital print for the front and back of the bag with front pockets, flap and strap, created using Ebrington curtains. Although for sides of the bag was developed using water-soluble, leftover scraps from the curtains and mixed coloured threads. The embroidery design was inspired by my digital print which was featured on the front of bag.
I had chosen a messenger styled bag for my final design as many soldiers during the late 1930s and throughout 1940s used messenger bags to deliver letters to captains and higher up officers during the war.
