Another type in the wall
Massimo Vignelli, the man who influenced Felice Nava to bring Helvetica into Italy from the prominence of Swiss typefaces. It replaced the then ruling typeface the Neue Haas Grotesk, which was as a matter of fact, the predecessor and parent. Although the advent of Helvetica into Italy changed the form of design into a timeless classic, the real miracle of Vignelli was not in a single typeface. It was his visions ahead of his own time, his emphasis on grid systems and knowing when to break the rules of design.
