'Noods' Branding - Bondi Beach Noodle Joint and Bar

Noods is an experimental fusion-based noodle joint and bar in Bondi Beach, Sydney.

The brand design was approached with minimalism as well as a sprinkle of retro nostalgia. Using the checkerboard pattern as a visual motif, I drew from the punk and skater subcultures of the 70s, and 80s. This was paired with clean and minimal cues such as generous use of white space, a geometric sans serif and structural linework and strokes that frame the logo and menus. The main typeface ‘Aesthet Nova’ draws upon the typography of the 70s, featuring bold, puffy letterforms, and creating a confident but quirky personality for Noods.
