Freshly Dropped - Food Recipe App

A food recipe app is an app where users can search for a particular meal and navigate through different meals (dishes) to see which recipe and ingredients is used in cooking such meal.
The reasons why users need this product is that it helps users to easily navigate through any meal of their choice and check which recipe is used in cooking such meal. This product also helps users to follow a step by step procedure on how to use a recipe to prepare a meal.
Existing functioning Product (Mobile app) that offers related services are Yummly, Cookpad, Flavor Maker, Cookmate and All Recipes. I review this existing product to understand their objective, the services they render and what does the consumers don’t like about the product. Some of the consumers complains are:
• Ridiculous amount of ads and garbage
• Complexity in the landing page of the product
• Problem finding the recipe I needed
• Way too long to get a desired recipe for a meal
To curb all this problem, I put some certain things into measure:
I will have an onboarding screen where users can select whether they are on diet or a vegetarian. This helps to narrow down the meals such a user can eat and it aids navigation for such a user to easily find the meal that interest them on the landing page.
On the landing page,
• The hamburger icon direct users to a screen where they will find their profile, top deals, recommended recipe, calendar (this helps users to plan a balanced diet based on their diet) etc
• The Delivery and Pickup button helps users to monitor their delivery till it gets to their door step.
• Filter option helps the user to easily search through a particular category of recipe based on occasions, breakfast, brunch, particular price, etc
• Favorite icon helps user to click on the recipe which they like and the favorited item will be found in the favorite bar below.
• Users are captivated with anything free so I added a feature where users can order and then they get 5% off delivery fee. This feature will place this product about other related projects because none of them offer such.
All these information helps me to design the low fidelity prototype and high fidelity prototype putting in mind at every points the needs of the user and the goal of the project.
