Sitting
I created the suit, hands, and feet in Sketch, then imported them as a PNG into Photoshop where I added a tulip that I downloaded from Pexels.
Then, using a splatter brush, I painted the background on a separate layer. I wanted a little bit more separation between the foreground and background layers, so I added an additional layer and painted in some gentle black and white glows and shadows around the figure.
Then I painted some shadows and texture on the suit so it looks like it's responding to the same light as the tulip, and last I crunched up the edges of the tulip a little bit so that it feels more like a flower and less like a magic wand cutout of a flower.
And that's it! I've been painting textured backgrounds digitally and IRL for a long time, and it's something I really enjoy getting right.
