When in extreme pain or state of anxiety, unless one surrenders totally to the feet of the Divine or to the one being who is incomparable in every way, it’s tough to find relief.

Markandeya, the pious son Of Rishi Mrikandu, a child of great learning and an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva was destined to live only for 16 years. When Yama came to claim his life, Markandeya clung to his Shivalinga and refused to let go of the Lord and depart with Yama. Lord Shiva bowed down to the young boy’s unshaken faith, devotion and belief and sent Yama away empty handed. Markandeya could thus defy Death by surrendering to the Divine when everything else seemed hopeless and was blessed with immortality.
