QUINCE & HOMINY

Quince & Hominy is a fictional restaurant that I designed a menu for as a school project. In the project brief, I received the restaurant name, menu dimension, and unformatted menu text. The menu style, illustrations, and typographic decisions were subject to my discretion.

I aimed to create a menu that does not feel overwhelming despite a large number of menu items. Another goal was to make the style of the restaurant apparent through my design.

I created the menu as if it were for an upscale, chic restaurant located in a greenhouse-style structure. My resulting design is simplistic yet intricate in terms of attention to detail. A large amount of negative space, paired with a clear hierarchy, makes the extensive list of menu items appear less intimidating. Meanwhile, the stylized titles and simple quince fruit illustration imbue the menu with personality.
