Drain Lid Photos, Vol. 1
To walk with me requires patience. I’m a typical flaneur, not in a hurry, shedding gloves and glasses like breadcrumbs, and most maddingly, photographing sewer drain lids in the middle of the street. You are tired, hungry and cold, and I’m being profiled by the authorities for my suspicious surveying of our public water supply. I can’t help it. These are the shapes that get my gears turning, they stand alone in the street vocabulary, almost always round but almost always different. The variety alone keeps me sleuthing, but the patterns, craft work, typography and material weight all have an effect on me. I’ll be posting a new series of 6 every week.
