Rabobank

The Rabobank is a financial bank in the Netherlands. It wasn’t long ago that the Rabobank made a digital transformation. This means that designers will have more respect within the organization. Instead of asking them for ‘pretty pictures’ they value designers for their input on optimizing processes. I started working at the Rabobank in April 2019. . Unfortunately, I can’t show the designs I’ve made because they are not live yet. Instead I’ll tell you more about the workflows.

The teams that are working at the Rabobank, work according the Spotify model. The base of the Spotify model is formed by ‘Squads’. A Squad can be compared to a Scrum team. A Squad is self-steering and feels like some sort of ‘mini startup’ with a multidisciplinary team with all the knowledge to create a product or service from beginning to end. Every Squad has a long-term mission where they are held responsible for optimizing and developing different parts of the main service of the company. You can speak of a tribe when there are multiple squads working on the same product or service.

Another part of the Spotify model is the Chapter. A Chapter consists employees with the same expertise. At the Rabobank I was active in the Chapter Design, along with the other designers that were working there at the moment.

Last but not least, there are guilds. A guild is a group of employees with the same expertise but who are not limited by a Tribe but are spread across the whole organization.
