Kakaoala (Brand Identity)
New brand identity and product design for Kakaoala
Kakaoala sell raw organic cacao for people to make healthy, conscious, tasty drinks with. Their "spirit animal" or mascot if you will, is a Koala. Hence "Kakaoala". Drinking cacao gives you a warm and gentle euphoric feeling, just like a good cuddle or hug does. Hence "cuddle in a cup".
For the research direction I decided to look at the competition to understand the current market for cacao. What common colours are used, fonts, imagery, art style etc. This helps stray away from looking generic which is very important when your product will be placed on a shelf next to competition. I researched Koalas from their forms to the many positions they use, what they look like when they eat, sleep, climb etc. I wanted to find a position that fit the brand values and help capture the feelings we wanted to portray. Also looking more into the word refreshing understanding how to capture this feelings visually. What do we associate with the word refreshing?
