Electrolux Robot Vacuum App - Redesign
This winter I got the opportunity to do a 1-week design case for Electrolux through Fjord Accenture. š
The challenge revolved around redesigning Electrolux's current app for their latest robot vacuum while taking user feedback into account. According to the case description, users think that the current app requires too much manual input, has a lot of glitches, and feels dull.
Above, you can see the final result of my design work. The proposal includes two main features. "Vacuum Moods" and an interactive household map.
The two features were designed with two different personas in mind. The "pet owner" persona tends to empathize with their robot vacuum as it goes about cleaning and occasionally struggling to climb over thresholds around the house. And the pragmatic "engineer" persona who values reliability and usability before all else.
In line with the "pet owner" persona, the "Vacuum Moods" feature leans into our tendency to anthropomorphize robots in our surroundings and attempts to further strengthen the bonds that can form between user and robot.
On the other hand, the interactive household map feature caters to the "engineer" persona and aims to expand the users' range of control modes while increasing ease of use.
All in all, I had a blast completing this 1-week case for Fjord Accenture and Electrolux!
