In the early 1900’s Paul Wittgenstein, a renowned Austrian-American concert pianist, was drafted into the military when World War I broke out. He was subsequently shot in the elbow, captured by the Russians, and had his arm amputated. Against all odds he returned to piano with a level of mastery, finesse, and ingenuity that was otherwise considered impossible.

This impossible left hand is a tribute to his relentless dedication of craft. The title of the work is the name of the concert this poster was originally created for. Because of the pandemic, the concert could not happen, but a piece of it is bottled up in this limited edition print.
