Gallery Pal - Modified Design Sprint

In school, we did a Modified GV Design Sprint to learn how design sprints work. For the modified version, I worked alone instead of with a group.

I was given the brief and some research, which I parsed and sorted on Monday.

I did the Crazy 8s, sketching, storyboarding and prototyping before user testing on Friday.

An interesting thing I learned from the user testing process is that people want/expect a grid view for the "All by artist" section. I presented it to testers as a chronological card swipe from piece to piece. I got positive feedback about this feature, and I would still use it as a clicked-in option one layer deeper into the architecture. When users first navigate to the tab, they tell me, they want to see a grid with a lot of art pieces, not just one piece on a card. So I listened to their feedback and built a grid-style page for the presentation deck.

Several users also requested an e-commerce experience, because "galleries are about selling the art, aren't they?" I built a commission-request form for the presentation deck, which isn't shown here but is available upon request.

If you want to see the whole deck, I'm happy to connect. It's only 5 pages long.

This project was build in Sketch, then each screen was exported to PNG and imported into Adobe XD, where I assembled the slide deck. Hooray for 3d!

What you see here is one of 5 slides, which are designed to double as a poster campaign in an airport or train station.

Images and text are from OlafurEliasson.net. I chose his art because viewing a piece of his at SFMOMA changed the way I look at art, so thanks Mr. E.

Design sprint brief and research was put together by bitesizeux.com and presented to me by Springboard.

Google Ventures Design Sprints are presented all over the web, and you can learn more at thesprintbook.com
