samurau

Samurai were similar to a type of iron lamellar armor called do-maru or "body covering." The armor was made of many small metal scales tied with string into large, lacquered plates. Then each plate was tied together to form a complete armor. Since iron was heavy enough to wear, ultimately the use of iron in the armor was basic only to protect the essential parts of the body, while the rest used skin. After contact with the Europeans, the Samurai began wearing plate armor, which provided even more protection. Samurai also wear a wide iron helmet called Kabuto.
