Mend Aid Pre-Threaded Needle

For this project I was tasked with repackaging 75 cents worth of an existing product to resell for a higher profit margin. I felt an increase in price demanded an increase in consumer convenience, and so my starting point was to seek out a product that I wished was packaged in a more convenient manner. Pre-threaded needles exist, but often with too many needles in an unnecessarily bulky case; I only need one every once in a while, I need it immediately, and I need to be able to stash it in my wallet (which I always carry). Focusing on these needs directed my attention to another product that I only need one every once in a while, immediately, and with the ability to stash in my wallet: a Band-Aid. Furthering the concept is the fact that a needle and thread mend your clothing’s rips, holes, and loose buttons, just as an adhesive bandage mends your body’s wounds. I chose to repackage the needle and thread into the form of a single Band-Aid, an iconic and immediately recognizable image, but blown up nearly four times the size of the traditional packaging. Inside, the pre-threaded needles are sewn onto vellum cut to resemble the bandage itself, and perforated into sections of individual needles that can be torn off and stored in your wallet. When you need the pre-threaded needle, simply tear it off; the thread breaks away in tact and ready to use.
