Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes' Foundation // Logo Design

The Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes’ Foundation was founded by Jennifer and Corey Feist after the tragic and sudden loss of Jennifer’s sister Lorna to suicide. Dr. Lorna Breen was a renowned emergency room physician at NewYork-Prespeterian Allen Hospital when the Coronavirus pandemic hit. The emergency department immediately became overwhelmed with the effects coronavirus was having on the community, and this hit Lorna particularly hard. When Jennifer lost her sister, she knew some things had to change. The goal of the Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes’ Foundation is to raise awareness about mental health effects on healthcare workers, and to support those heroes in healthcare fields by creating more accessible resources and programs to improve their well-being.

The logo design embodies Lorna’s much-loved personality: bold and bright. The bold Heroes’ text stands out against the rest to really put the main focus on those heroes on the frontlines. The sunburst in the background was incorporated to tie the mark back to the idea of “bringing light” to these mental health issues surrounding our healthcare workers. Additional design elements were incorporated around the foundation text to reference stethoscope anatomy. To tie it all together, red and orange were intentionally added to the mark - red being Lorna’s favorite color, and orange to reference her favorite ski jacket that she wore every winter.
