BeneskiDesign K2_SKEEZE Magazine: Rant Section
Set the Way-Back Dial to 2007. Seattle, WA. K2 produced its own magazine documenting the lives, thoughts and pursuits of K2 Factory Team athletes on and off the slopes. The “Magalog” had a fun and irreverent tone with a total of 96 pages_seven dedicated features, a veriey of front of the book tid-bits, a Rant section to discuss current topics, and a photo gallery. SKEEZE was targeted toward a 12- to 25-year-old demographic and its style and tone resonated with the intended audience. K2 looked within the youth-focused ski industry and brought on Micah Abrams, as editor-in-chief, and me, Stephen Beneski, as creative visionary to bring the project from concept to final print. Myself and Abrams previously worked together at Freeze magazine that was rich in culture and embodied the attitude of the youth movement in freeskiing for more than 10 years. SKEEZE recaptured the essence of Freeze which came to an untimely demise, but that’s another story.
