Open Infrastructure Foundation Logo

This is the icon I designed for the new Open Infrastructure Foundation branding. Previously the OpenStack Foundation, the foundation rebranded this year to indicate its expansion beyond just the OpenStack project.

Borrowing from the visual language of civic infrastructure, like road and transit signage or industrial imagery, we chose a stylized arrow as our primary icon. This particular symbol is inspired by the multi-colored lines found on transit maps and features an arrow composed of 4 lines to represent the Four Opens—Open Source, Open Design, Open Development, and Open Community.

The theme alludes to the global nature of the community, the use of the software in civic infrastructure, and the idea that the foundation exists to help projects along their journey.
