Accesability Icon
I'm not sure if all of you have seen the latest Accessible Icon Project or not. They are working to transform the international symbol of access, which is very cool, in my opinion. They have recognized some flaws in the icons current state, and are moving to have it changed to something they've designed.
Now, I love the project, and think it's a noble cause. I do wonder, however, if they have taken it to the extreme. Consider pairing their version of the symbol with the standard male and female symbols currently in use. You begin to see a weird relationship between the symbols. The person in the chair is off and flying away, while the people standing seem like robots.
I wonder if they could have improved the symbol—made the person seem less helpless, and robotic—and made it still appear in the same family. I have tried to do just that. By simply moving a few pieces around, the figure becomes more human, and fluid. I altered 3 important pieces of the body (the head, arm, and torso).
There are also some alternate options that I included in the attachment, so check them out. I would love to hear everyones feedback.
