Design for sustainability - KTH master thesis

Master thesis in eco-design, the project scope was to improve sustainability of the Mendi headset for next generation product release.

The work included life cycle assessment, where material selection (see Picture 1) and processes throughout the life cycle was analyzed and assessed in regards to CO2 emission and energy usage relative to cost. It also included design for disassembly, which was found necessary after realizing the impact of the product end of life. Here, designs were made for the product to be mechanically assembled and disassembled (see Picture 3-6).

Additionally, component form was redesigned to reduce the amount of different materials and components in the headset (see Picture 2).

The information gathered was then combined from the different methodologies and assessed through scenario based presentation (see Picture 7-8).
